The Braves were Jacks team before signing for Cowdenbeath, I sure he would have liked to finish the season against his old club.

Caledonian Braves 3-2 Cowdenbeath

Interim manager Stevie Crawford's reign ended in defeat despite his side leading twice in the game.

Cowdenbeath went ahead in the 4th minute when Archie Graham put the ball into his own net while trying to clear Zac Butterworth's goal bound effort.

The home side drew level in the 36th minute through Aiden Clocherty after a good run from Cammy Breadner.

Into the second half and The Blue Brazil went back in front on 56 with Jamie Docherty getting his 15th goal of the season.

The Braves levelled for the second time in the game through Josh Gemmell in the 85th minute before Jacob Long won it for Ricky Waddell's side just three minutes later.

The loss sees Cowdenbeath finish the season in 10th place in the Lowland League, 10 points and 5 positions better off than last season.

TEAM : Hepburn, G MacPherson, Rodden, McNab, Jordan, Donald, Butterworth (Berry), A MacDonald, Healy (Chalmers), M McDonald, Docherty

SUBS NOT USED : McLaughlin, Trialist A, Trialist B, Denham

Edusport 3-2 Cowdenbeath. Edusport come back from 2-1 down to win with two goals in the last 5 minutes.

Cowdenbeath end the season in TENTH place. Exeter is probably popping the champagne cork as I write this.

Tomorrow’s match at Caledonian Braves marks the end of Stevie Crawford’s four-match reign as caretaker-manager of Cowdenbeath FC. The club would therefore like to express its gratitude and to thank Stevie and his assistants, Jason Dair and Graeme Nutt, for their willingness to come in to help us at short notice by taking charge at Central Park. Their hard work and professionalism has been much appreciated by all those connected with the club. It has really been a pleasure to have them with us. We wish Stevie, Jason and Graeme all the very best in the future and hope that Stevie’s planned new venture goes well. Ideally too they can sign off with another victory tomorrow!

The end of the playing campaign also will now permit the Board at Central Park to focus their full attention on the selection process and ultimate appointment of a new manager to take us into season 2024/25.

Re: The Official Cowdenbeath 2023-24 Season Thread - Scottish Lowland Football League
Nice one Mex, and good for him securing some silverware for his new club, after what must’ve been a big disappointment in having to leave the COO.

It’s the top 10 finale game today, three teams all on 46 points, and only two of them will end the day, proudly finishing in the top ten of the Scottish Lowland League.

And the COO are one of them.

Albion Rovers have pretty much sealed their place, with a superior goal difference.

The COO travel to Edusport Academy, whilst Stirling University look to have a far tougher ask, away at third placed Bo’ness Utd.

On paper that 10th spot looks like the COOs, but GAMES AREN’T WON ON PAPER

Great climax to the season.

Exeter, thanks for looking up about Jack Duncan WHU(Exeter) 4:07 Mon Feb 12
I was in Scotland and caught up with him. He is now playing for Tranent FC. Apparently the Coos needed to reduce their wage bill and let him go. I saw Jack and Tranent in the Lowland League Cul Final. It was a good game, Tranent were always behind chasing the game which finished 2-2 and went to penalties. The penalties were also going in pretty evenly and Jack took charge of I think the 8th and calmly scored after some trouble with the ball being blow of the penalty spot before he shot. East Kilbrid missed and the celebrations started. First time I I've seen penalties live, it was very tense. All good fun.

I've thought about it.

For me it's got to be Michael Cunningham, 28th October 2023, steps up to score a late winner in the Scottish Cup away tie at Kilwinning Rangers.

Thus becoming the last COO player to appear in name on the vidiprinter, BBC, Sporting Life or otherwise.

Take a bow son.

On Saturday evening, following the 2-1 win over Gretna 2008, was the Cowdenbeath FC Player of the Year event. The winners were as follows :

𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐲 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐛𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐲 - When lifelong Cowden fan Andy Forbes passed away back in 2023, his family wished to honour his memory by establishing an annual award for Cowdenbeath FC. It was agreed that the destination of the Andy Forbes Player of the Year trophy would be decided each year by some of our youngest supporters - the Central Park ball boys and girls. This year they voted and confirmed that the inaugural winner of the Andy Forbes trophy was Zac Butterworth.

𝐂𝐨𝐰𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐂 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬' 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 - Amongst footballers an award which often carries the highest prestige is the Players' Player of the Year - to be honoured by your peers and given this accolade is a real distinction. There were a number of players in the running and in 3rd place in the poll was midfield dynamo Matty MacDonald. The 2nd place position went to wing wizard Zac Butterworth. And ultimately, the honour of being named Cowdenbeath FC's Players' Player of the Year for 2023/24 goes to tireless skipper Robbie McNab.

𝐂𝐨𝐰𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐂 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 - Finally, we turn to the Cowdenbeath FC Player of the Year trophy as voted for by the club's supporters. This honour was first bestowed 61 years ago back in 1963 and it remains the premier award of Cowdenbeath FC and its fans. There was actually a tie for second place in the vote and thus silver medal position was shared between Matty MacDonald and Zac Butterworth who each received 22% of the votes cast. The winner though picked up 38% of the votes. Now past winners of this award include the likes of Andy Kinnell, Eric Archibald, Joe Mbu and Craig Barr - the common denominator of course being that they were all leaders out on the pitch and inspirational captains. Following in their footsteps at Central Park is a man who ticks the very same boxes. In recent years Craig Barr (twice) and Sam Newman both did the double by winning both the Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year trophies in the same season - 2023/24 sees that trend repeated with club captain Robbie McNab now acclaimed as Cowdenbeath FC's Player of the Year.

Cowdenbeath 2-1 Gretna 2008

Cowdenbeath came from behind to win their final home game of the 2023/24 season.

Gretna 2008 went ahead in the 39th minute through Liam Short and took the narrow advantage with them into the break.

Zac Butterworth equalised for The Blue Brazil in the 66th minute before a stunning hit from captain Robbie McNab in the 76th minute put the home side in front.

The win was only the third league victory at Central Park this season but sees Stevie Crawford's side climb to 10th.

TEAM : Hepburn, A MacDonald, Rodden, McNab, Jordan, Donald, Butterworth, McLaughlin (G MacPherson), Healy, M McDonald, Docherty (Trialist C)

SUBS NOT USED : Berry, Trialist A, Trialist B, E MacPherson, Denham

NEXT UP : We travel to Alliance Park to take on Caledonian Braves in the final Lowland League game of the season.
